All Hallows Eve

The Real Meaning of Halloween or Samhain

In the Celtic calendar, 31st October was the Festival of Samhain, marking the end of the 'light' or the growing half of the year and the beginning of the 'dark' of dead half! The Celts also believed that the spirits of their ancestors became active with nightfall. The Christian faith interpreted this with All Souls Night for rural people - when the dead were abroad! Happy Halloween!
