May Day

May Day traditionally marks the start of British summer! May Day revelries were at their height in the Middle Ages but later went on to become a targetĀ for the Puritans, who banned it in 1644! Luckily for us, in 1660, Charles II restored both Maypoles and May Day behaviour! Picture of Hever Castle is courtesy of Visit Kent.
